Modern electronic key fobs offer more functionality and are more convenient compared to traditional manual keys. Batteries eventually degrade and require replacement. If your Volvo keyfob only functions intermittently, the battery may be dying and you will have to replace it quickly.

Insert the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into the slot and gently pry open the back of the fob of the key. Once you have opened the fob, you can locate and remove the CR 2032 3V battery. Replace the battery and snap back together the fob.

Note: Some older volvo key replacement models have a different type of battery that is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of millimeters thinner than a CR2032 battery, so you’ll need to be aware of the location of the replacement.
